چکیده
The purpose of this case report is to verify if the adaptation a rigid gas-permeable contact lens can improve VA and comfort in patient with complications derived from radial keratotomy (RK) surgery. A semi-scleral was fitted 46-year-old female who had undergone bilateral RK before 30 years. uncorrected distance visual acuity right eye (RE) left (LE) 0.5 0.6 logMAR (minimum angle resolution), respectively. In present case, there multiple factors that influenced resolution, such as amount apical space, diameter, limbal clearance, peripheral O-rings, tear exchange.

Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lens as a Vision-Sparing Tool in Children After Traumatic Corneal Laceration.
PURPOSE To evaluate the clinical value of rigid gas permeable contact lenses in children after traumatic corneal scarring. METHODS This comparative study included 15 children (age range: 5.7 to 14 years; mean ± standard deviation = 9.4 ± 2.9 years) with corneal scars and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of worse than 20/20, history of penetrating ocular trauma, and/or cataract extraction. ...

PURPOSE To evaluate the performance of two experimental contact lenses (CL) designed to induce relative peripheral myopic defocus in myopic eyes. METHODS Ten right eyes of 10 subjects were fitted with three different CL: a soft experimental lens (ExpSCL), a rigid gas permeable experimental lens (ExpRGP) and a standard RGP lens made of the same material (StdRGP). Central and peripheral refract...

RGP materials In choosing appropriate materials, it is important to remember that keratoconic patients (as well as in other primary corneal ectasias) demand high levels of comfort because they wear their lenses for long periods of time. With steep high minus lenses, which are often required, materials with high dimensional stability are recommended in order to minimise lens distortion. Mid to h...
متن کاملCorneal aberration changes after rigid gas permeable contact lens wear in keratokonic patients
PURPOSE To determine the short-term effect of rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses on corneal aberrations in keratoconic patients. METHOD Sixteen keratoconic eyes with no history of RGP lens wear were included. They all had corneal aberrometry using Pentacam, and different aberration indices of the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea were measured before and 3 months after fitti...
متن کاملMigration of rigid gas permeable contact lens into the upper eyelid after trauma: a case report
BACKGROUND Migration of a rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens after trauma is rare, and its clinical characteristics have not been fully discussed. CASE PRESENTATION A 36-year-old female showed mild swelling in the right upper eyelid. She lost her RGP contact lens seven months prior to her first visit, from trauma by her child's kick to the right eye. At the first examination, we felt a fi...
